Henderson family papers, 1852-1971.

Family correspondence and papers of the Henderson family of Hingham, Mass., 1852-1971. The correspondence of Samuel James Henderson includes letters concerning camp life and military routine in the 32nd Mass. Infantry during the Civil War. Correspondents include Abner E. Drury and Lyman F. Holyoke, members of the 32nd, and Samuel's brother Hiram Willey Henderson, who served in the 30th Maine Infantry. Papers include Hiram's commission and discharge, a photostat of Samuel's discharge, and the reminiscences of Samuel's son Gustavus Owen Henderson. The reminiscences include letters, as well as ten family photographs, collected and organized by Gustavus' son Howard Henderson, which pertain to Gustavus' life and the history of Hingham.
